Difflan 500SC is a Selective Herbicide for the control of Broadleaf Weeds in Winter and Spring sown Cereals.
Active ingredient:
500g/litre Diflufenican in the form of a Suspension Concentrate.
Target Crops: (Cereals Only).
– Wheat.
– Barley.
– Rye.
– Triticale.
Do NOT use on:
– Oats.
– Undersown Cereals (e.g. with Clover).
Weeds Controlled:
Best on young Weeds (early growth stages).
1-Leaf Stage:
– Cleavers.
– Fumitory.
Up To 2-Leaf:
– Dock.
– Fathen.
– Chamomile.
– Buttercup.
– Sowthistle.
– Vetch.
– Wireweed.
Up To 4-Leaf:
– Chickweed.
– Black Nightshade.
– Field Pansy.
– Shepherd’s Purse.
– Spurrey.
– Wild Turnip.
Key Point:
– Timing is CRITICAL – must be applied early.
Application Rates & Timing:
Application Rate:
~ 200 mL/ha.
– Commonly tank mixed with Isoproturon (1 L/ha).
– Timing Early post-emergence → before Crop jointing.
– Apply before Weeds exceed listed growth stages.
Application Guidelines:
Water Rate:
~ 100–300 L/ha.
– Apply with Boom Sprayer (no Aerial).
Best Results On:
– Fine, firm Seedbed.
– Moist Soil.
– Low Trash.
Key Use Restrictions:
– Avoid Soils with>10% organic matter.
– DO NOT use with Crop Oils or mix with Emulsifiable Concentrates.
– Must have rain within 6 hours or the efficacy is reduced.
Avoid Spraying In:
– Drought.
– Frost conditions.
Crop Effects:
– May cause temporary yellowing (especially in cold/wet conditions).
– No long-term yield impact if used correctly.
Residual & Rotation:
– Has Soil persistence.
– Cultivation recommended before next Crop.
– Caution when rotating into sensitive Crops (e.g. Clover).
Tank Mixing: (Common Partners).
– Isoproturon.
– Chlorsulfuron.
– Useful for broadening Weed spectrum.
Withholding Period:
– Not required when used as directed.
