You must install this chip when removing the catalytic converter and installing our 1-011-600 D-Plate on Yamaha 1200 / 1300 powervalve engines.  This chip will fool the CDI into thinking the catalytic converter is still there and will allow the engine to run instead of shutting down and sounding warning devices.
