Pilan® 500SC is a low toxic, hightly cost-effective Insecticide used to control mealy bug, scales and whitefly.
Active Ingredient:
500g/litre buprofezin in the form of a suspension concentrate.
Target Pests:
– Scale insects.
– Mealybugs.
– Whitefly.
– Key point: Controls immature stages only (nymphs) — not adults.
How It Works:
– Interferes with moulting (chitin formation).
– Causes gradual population decline across generations.
– May reduce egg viability.

Application Rates:
General Rate: (all crops).
– 25 ml / 100 L water (high-volume to runoff).
– Minimum 250 ml/ha applied.
Citrus (Scale).
– Water rate: 2500–3000 L/ha.
Timing:
– At first appearance.
– Repeat 10–14 days later.
– Then monthly if needed.
Grapes (Mealybug).
– Water: ≥1000 L/ha.
Programme:
– First spray at bud movement + 1% oil.
– Second spray 14–21 days later (no oil).
– Do NOT spray after flowering starts.
Persimmons (Mealybug).
– 2 sprays between green tip → bloom.
– Interval: 10–14 days.
Tamarillo: (Whitefly).
– Spray after pruning, before fruit set.
– Reapply at ≥28 day intervals.
– Threshold:>20 adults per leaf.
– Rotate with other chemistry for adult control.
Withholding Periods:
– Tamarillo: 7 days.
– Citrus: 14 days.
– Grapes & Persimmons, Do not apply after flowering begins.
Resistance Management:
– Max 3 applications per crop per season.
